Neurobiology and CAT - offered by CAT South
16th May 2015

WARNING! This event has passed.

This all day workshop (9.30-4.30) is suitable for a wide range of participants ranging from those with some background in CAT, including supervisors and trainees to those from other psychological disciplines.

Technical advances have enabled us to know what actually happens in the brain, to a degree unimaginable years ago.  It is now possilbe to demonstrate that the brains of people with emotionally deprived childhoods have less white matter (connecting fibres) and that after effective psychotherapy, this white matter grows.  We know that Neuroplasticity (the capacity of the brain to grow new neurons) persists throughout life.

When changes happen in people's feelings, thoughts and behaviours ways of relating etc. changes also happen in the structure of the brain.

In this workshop, Annie will introduce some of the ideas and findings of Neurobiology, especially in the ideas of Dan Siegal (his Inter Personal Neuro Biology is profoundly relational).
