Jon Sloper [ACAT Website Support] [+] Can I get hold of back issues of Reformulation?
Yes and No!
No
We don't keep a stock of printed back issues of Reformulation as we only print the number we need for the current members of ACAT at the time of publication. Occasionally we get a few returned to sender as they've not been able to be delivered. We hang on to these and can supply them if requested.
Yes
Although you may not be able to get hold of a hard copy of the newsletter you will be able to find all the articles that have been published in Reformulation in the ACATonline reference library. The reference library is available to all current members of ACAT.
You can view a list of all the editions of the Reformulation (and its predecessor - ACATnews) by clicking here [and logging in if you haven't already done so]. You can then see the articles that were published in each edition.
Library Search
All the reference library articles are searchable on the site too. So you can use the library search box to return any articles on your chosen topic. Simply type in your search word(s) and click Search. The results will be returned in descending order of relevance.
[+] How can I add a news story to the site?
News stories can be added by any full member of ACAT. You'll find the link to add a new story in the right hand margin of the home page if you're logged in as a member.
Click on the "Add or Edit Your News Stories" link and you'll be taken to the news administration page. This shows you any news stories that you've written on the site and allows you to add new ones.
To add a new story, click on the add icon. This will present the following form. If this is your first time using a form on the website you will be prompted to install a small [Java] program that allows you to use the word processor type form fields. Follow the on screen instructions to install the program. This program allows you to style your news story with headings, bold and highlighted text, tables and bullet points.
You MUST fill in the following fields: title, short text, full text and you MUST include an expiry date for the story. You can also optionally select whether to show the story ONLY to members of ACAT by clicking in the relevant box.
If there is a document that you wish to add that relates to your story you can upload it here too. Click on the Browse button and find the file on your local computer. Once you've selected the file and completed the news story click "Add News Item" and the story will be added to the site. It will remain on the site until the expiry date has passed.
You can update and edit (or delete) your news stories at any time by clicking on the "Add or Edit Your News Stories" link again, and selecting the edit button next to your story.
As always, contact the website support team support@acat.me.uk if you have any problems.

[+] I don't appear to be able to access the site from work or download any documents. Can you help?
Many employers, especially those in the public sector, have stringent protection and access restrictions on the computers on their networks. This is usually to stop inappropriate use by employees and possible infection of the system from websites with mailicious content. Occasionally the settings on these access restrictions are such that they prevent access to bona fide websites that people wish to visit.
A small number of visitors to ACATonline have reported that their networks have restricted this site, and prevented them from logging in and/or downloading content. Unfortunately we are unable to do anything to change this situation, but would recommend that they contact their IT department and find out if there is a way to add ACATonline to the networks' "safe sites" or "permitted sites" list.
If you are experiencing this sort of access issue and need any assistance then do get in touch and we will try and help you resolve the problem.
[+] I don't appear to be receiving emails from ACAT. What's gone wrong?
We have become aware that a handful of ACAT members have apparently not received emails from us recently. We have looked into the situation and in the majority of cases it appears that emails from ACAT have been sent into the "Junk Email" box on the member's email account. Some of the major email service providers in particular have been found to immediately treat ACAT email as "spam" and move it straight into the junk folder. Unless you know where to look you wouldn't even know a message has arrived.
The way to check whether this has happened to you is to look in the Junk or Spam folder and see if any emails from ACAT are in there. If they are you can usually tell the email program to stop treating ACAT messages as junk mail or spam. Click on the message and you should be given an option to change the "Junk Filter" and add ACAT emails to the "Safe Senders List". All email services do this differently so you may need to look at your provider's help pages to find out how to adjust these settings.
Once you've updated your junk mail filter your emails will be delivered into your Inbox in the normal way. If you still need any assistance with sorting out your junk mail settings after consulting your email provider's guidelines then get in touch and we will try to help. [+] Where can I find the Psychotherapy File and other CAT Tools?
When you're logged into the website you'll find a link to all the "Practical CAT Resources" in the top blue box on the right hand margin. The direct link to the page is http://www.acat.me.uk/practicedocumentslist.php (You'll be asked to log in if you aren't logged in already.)
When you've opened the page you'll need to click on the little [+] to open up the full list. The Psychotherapy Files are about half way down.
[+] Why have I been taken off the private practice list?
ACAT's policy for listing Practitioners on the website will change on 5th July 2007. In addition to any information already stored on a Practitioner's pre-July 5th listing, a new set of fields also need to be completed in order for the listing to continue to appear on the website. These include:
-
Location of Practice
-
Confirmation of a Supervisor's Name
-
Confirmation of Insurance for Private Practice
Private practitioners are able to update their own listings and add this additional information to their record, which will then re-instate their record on the Private Practice List. Full information about the private practice list can be found here.
[+] Why haven't I received a copy of Reformulation?
There are a number of reasons why you may not have received a copy of Reformulation.
-
Perhaps your membership had lapsed at the time of publication; if it had then you wouldn't be sent a copy as you were not currently a member of ACAT.
-
Perhaps your postal address details on the database were wrong or incomplete; if so then it would not have reached you for obvious reasons! [If it goes to a work address, is it an address that you've checked regularly or has it been sent to the wrong dept in the internal mail system?]
If you can rule these two options out, then there may be an administrative problem that we as yet don't know about. If you think this might be the case please get in touch and we'll work with you to find out what has happened.
Email the ACAT Administrator with your query.
