Cognitive Analytic Therapist - East Lancashire

Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust has set about the task of making psychological care everybody’s business, with Psychotherapists and Clinical Psychologists becoming core members of community multi-disciplinary teams. There is recognition of the need for the availability of a broad range of therapeutic approaches at a high level of expertise. It is also recognized that there are not sufficient resources to allow for each therapeutic approach to be individually embedded within every community team.

This April, we are advertising a post of Cognitive Analytic Therapist in East Lancashire, with applications invited from candidates with, as a minimum, Practitioner qualification in CAT. The successful applicant will be a member of Rossendale Community Mental Health Team, though a proportion of their time will be spent contributing to psychotherapy activities across a broader Psychotherapies Managed Clinical Network. A key function of having psychological therapists within community teams is to further strengthen the role of psychological and psychotherapeutic approaches in the care offered to complex cases. Psychotherapists have identified key areas of work within community teams, namely providing consultation and supervision, teaching and, of course, delivering face-to-face therapy.

In order to ensure that there is more equitable access to high levels of therapeutic expertise, Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust has established a Trust-wide Psychotherapies Managed Clinical Network, with dedicated clinical and managerial leadership. Organised around the three localities of North, Central and East Lancashire, psychotherapists contribute ring-fenced sessions to the Network. The Managed Clinical Network coordinates activities such as supervision, group therapies and access to specific individual therapies that are not available within all community teams. Additionally, the Network acts a forum for Continuing Professional Development activities and for Trust-wide away days, supporting the role of psychological therapists.

This is, of course, a very broad overview of how the role will operate and how the successful applicant will be supported. Should you wish to discuss this post further, please feel free to make contact on any of the numbers below:
