Psychotherapist Band 8a - North Manchester

Full-time post based at Macartney House Psychotherapy Service, North Manchester (37.5 hours per week)
Band 8a (£38,851- £46,621 per annum)

This is an excellent opportunity to join our well-established service, to help develop and deliver psychotherapy provision in North Manchester. The post-holder will be an accredited psychotherapist trained in psychodynamic psychotherapy or cognitive analytic therapy.

The service offers psychodynamic psychotherapy, cognitive analytic therapy, transference-focussed psychotherapy and a mentalization based therapy programme. Much of the team’s work is with service users with complex presentations including personality disorder. The post-holder will have clinical experience relevant to working with these service users. The service hosts specialist placements for junior psychiatrists, psychotherapy trainees and clinical psychology trainees.

The post-holder would need an enthusiasm for and an appreciation of the challenges and rewards of working within a culturally diverse urban environment. The successful applicant will join a team of therapists which has close links with clinical psychology services, other local mental health services and primary care and with Gaskell House Psychotherapy Centre.

Macartney House Psychotherapy Service is part of Psychological Services, which, as a city-wide sub-directorate of Manchester Mental Health and Social Care Trust, comprises a range of specialisms and offers a high standard of support and supervision.

The post offers excellent opportunities to further develop specialist assessment and therapy skills. Participation in service development initiatives, supervision, teaching and training will be strongly encouraged and supported.

The post could be taken by one person or job-shared.
