Clinical Psychologist - 8b - Barnet, Enfield and Haringey MH Trust

Applications are welcomed for this post from qualified Clinical Psychologists, with a minimum of 5 years post qualification experience. Applicants are required to be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council as a Clinical Psychologist. Applicants are also required to have undertaken an additional training in psychotherapy (e.g. CAT practitioner training or psychodynamic). Following re-organisation of community services within the Trust, the Complex Care Service (CCS) was established in April 2011.

The service, the first of its kind in the UK, strives to redefine the traditional CMHT model, providing psychologically driven packages of care, focussed on recovery, encompassing care coordination, psychological therapy interventions, social care and psychiatric interventions, to adults diagnosed with complex mental health difficulties, without a diagnosis of psychosis. The team is structured into three streams, PTSD, Personality Disorder (specifically for those with EUPD), and Mood Anxiety and Personality (MAP) and psychological therapists are located within a treatment stream.

Alongside this structure is stand-alone Psychological Therapy provision of CBT, CAT, systemic therapy and psychodynamic therapy. It is anticipated that the successful applicants for this post will divide their time between the MAP stream and the provision of psychological therapies. There is a thriving group treatment programme in each of the treatment streams and the successful applicant/s will be required to contribute to this within the stream in which they are located.

We are looking to recruit to two (part time or full time) highly skilled and experienced Clinical Psychologists who have undertaken post graduate training in a specialist psychological therapy and are registered with an appropriate body (for example ACAT or BPC). We particularly welcome applications from individuals with experience of working with complex, challenging and high risk presentations.

The post holders will work closely with the Consultant Clinical Psychologist, developing the team and specifically the psychological provision taking delegated responsibility and leadership from the clinical lead for the supervision and appraisal structure. They will also be expected to work alongside the operational management structure in the team to design clinically effective care pathways compliant with both Trust policy and our national and local key performance indicators.

Occasionally they will be required to represent the team at meetings, where there may be representation from other service lines. They will provide assessment and treatment to a smaller caseload of complex patients. Interested candidates are encouraged to make contact with John Fox, Consultant Clinical Psychologist john.fox@beh-mht.nhs.uk or 0208 702 6418.
