Forthcoming DVD: Tony Ryle in Dialogue with Ian Kerr and CAT Scotland

Members of ACAT will be familiar with the ‘CAT Chat’ video, produced several years ago.  On 21 December 2007, Tony Ryle visited Scotland for an informal conference on CAT, and to offer encouragement to the development and accreditation of a Practitioner Training Course in Edinburgh.  He agreed for this meeting to be filmed, and for subsequent distribution to both training courses and individuals.  The DVD is currently being edited and will be available to order from the ACAT office in the near future.

Some of the topics discussed in the conference include:

  • The History and ‘Archaeology’ of Cognitive Analytic Therapy
  • Attachment Theory and CAT
  • Concepts of self and the formation of Reciprocal Roles
  • The value and importance of Reformulation
  • CAT compared with a Psychoanalytic, Systemic, or CBT stance
  • Formation and continued development of psychotherapists with a ‘broader view’
  • Future of training in CAT
  • The importance of thinking and writing about CAT
  • The Dialogical Self and future of CAT

The cost of the DVD will be affected by the number of individual orders we are able to ascertain in advance of distribution. If you are interested in ordering a copy of the DVD, please indicate this as soon as possible by contacting Susan Van Baars in the ACAT office email: admin@acat.me.uk or telephone 0844 800 9496.

If you have any additional questions about the format or content of the DVD, please feel free to contact Janis Abernathy email: janis_abernathy@yahoo.co.uk for further information.
