This is an excellent opportunity to join our well-established service, to help shape and develop psychotherapy provision in North Manchester. We are looking for a psychotherapist with enthusiasm and an appreciation of the challenges and rewards of working within a culturally diverse urban environment. The post-holder will be either an accredited psychotherapist with training in cognitive analytic therapy or psychodynamic psychotherapy or a psychotherapist who is training in cognitive analytic therapy or psychodynamic psychotherapy. The successful applicant will join a team of therapists which has close links with clinical psychology services, other local mental health services, primary care, and with its ‘sister service’ in the same Trust, Gaskell House Psychotherapy Centre.

The team uses a range of approaches including cognitive analytic therapy, and psychodynamic group and individual psychotherapy. Much of the team’s work is with service users with personality disorder and other complex presentations. A programme of mentalization based therapy is currently being introduced. The service hosts specialist placements for junior psychiatrists, psychotherapy trainees and clinical psychology trainees.

Macartney House Psychotherapy Service is part of Psychological Services, which, as a city-wide sub-directorate of Manchester Mental Health and Social Care Trust, comprises a range of specialities and offers a high standard of support and supervision.

The post offers excellent opportunities to further develop specialist assessment, therapy, supervision and consultation skills. Participation in service development initiatives and teaching and training will be strongly encouraged and supported.

Please note: Applicants may apply for this post only, or jointly with the psychotherapist post (Ref:454-782-1).

Please also note that the start date for this post will be July 13 2009.
