ACAT is moving to a new website shortly. Due to unforeseen technical issues, the launch has been postponed briefly until Tuesday, 6th May.
In preparation, this website no longer lets members renew their membership. ACAT Administration are likewise unable to process membership renewals until the new site opens.
Please do not update any personal details on your member/friend profile, as changes at this point will not be transferred to the new site.
Thank you for your patience, and we look forward to welcoming you to a new website after the Early May bank holiday.
Many patients come to us feeling stuck. Therapists can feel stuck and even the CAT model can feel stuck. This workshop will look at “stuckness” using CAT theory and practice through the lens of agency, the desired but potentially feared sense of I am, I can, I will. En route we’ll look at some old ideas and some new – reciprocal roles, resistance, and mental disorder as failed dialogue. We’ll drop anchor in the clinical world of patient experience and NHS services and see whether CAT ‘s integrative genius gets us back out to sea.
Presenter:
David Crossley’s first degree was in theology and religious studies before qualifying in medicine, first as a GP then as a psychiatrist and medical psychotherapist. He is a CAT practitioner but also did trainings in Group Analysis and CBT. Years back he worked in Africa as a teacher and rural medical officer and is currently clinical lead for psychotherapy in NHS Glasgow.
The workshop commences at 9.30am, finishing at 11:30am
Delegate fee: £10
