Overview of the day

This is a day organised by current and recently graduated CAT Practitioner trainees. The day includes a series of presentations, discussions, posters and workshops. The programme will showcase some of the current and recent work developed by trainees and others through written assignments for the Catalyse CAT Practitioner training course. There will be brief presentations on a new second series of CAT training films, and another training tool in development. It will also feature contributions on opportunities for early career (and all other) CATs to further develop research and supervision skills as they continue in their application of cognitive analytic therapy.

Aims and learning outcomes

This one-day event provides an opportunity to

  • hear from graduating trainees on their second year written work, reflecting recent theoretical and practical applications of CAT
  • learn about pathways towards onward training as a CAT supervisor
  • consider CAT’s growing evidence base and ways in which you can contribute
  • discuss and experiment with a new draft tool for considering ‘My Social Self’ in therapy and supervision
  • watch excerpts from the second series of Catalyse Training Films, demonstrating advanced CAT skills

Those attending can:

  • learn about latest CAT developments
  • consider future directions for CAT in the north
  • meet newly qualifying cognitive analytic therapists
  • develop and strengthen CAT peer networks in the north and beyond
  • support and scaffold the growing CAT workforce for the future

Who is it for?

This day is open to all who are interested in new developments locally, and in supporting and encouraging early career CATs graduating from the Catalyse Practitioner course.

We warmly invite:

  • existing and recent CAT Practitioner trainees from any training course
  • aspiring CATs – those who are interested in applying for CAT training in the future
  • qualified CAT therapists
  • psychological professional leads and others wanting to support CAT provision and recruitment in their services
  • anyone else interested in what’s new on the CAT landscape
