ACAT Supervisors and Trainers 4th Annual Meeting – London
17 and 18 September 2010

Friday Evening 18.00 – 20.00 followed by a meal and evening discussion until late
Saturday 09.15 – 15.30
Venue:
Friday: Canterbury Suite || Dinner: Winchester Suite || Saturday: Canterbury Suite
at the Euston Thistle Hotel, Cardington Street, London, NW1 2LP

Following the success of the first three Annual Meetings for ACAT Supervisors and Trainers, we are again repeating this event in the same venue and in the same spirit as previously.

Broadly speaking, the Friday evening will be a wide ranging, round table discussion covering any items that those present want to bring, and also planning the agenda for the ‘free’ spaces the next day. On the Saturday morning, we will have an opportunity to discuss and debate the very important issue of what will happen to our practitioners when statutory regulation with the Health Professions Council comes into being. Although it seems we have a little more breathing space regarding this as the new government has slowed the timetable slightly, it remains an issue with potentially profound consequences for our Practitioner Trainings and also possibly our Psychotherapist Training.

The rest of the Saturday will be spent in small group discussion of ‘Hot Topics’ covering current challenges, dilemmas and useful ideas/practices in CAT supervision and trainings which will be chosen from the group discussion of both the Friday night and first part of Saturday. Attendees are invited to think of topics that they would like to be discussed and to bring them along to the meeting for consideration. Last year, we decided to remain as a large group for much of the discussion, and we may well decide to do so again.

The meeting is open to all Trainers and Supervisors (including Trainee Supervisors) and in addition, members of ACAT’s Committees. The aim of each of the annual meetings has been to provide an opportunity for a connective and fruitful dialogue to create a forum for monitoring and developing the key role of Supervisors and Trainers in developing CAT practice in all its variety.

The meeting will be peer led. However, responsibility for the coordination, timing and housekeeping lies with Jane Blunden and Vicky Petratou.
