Cognitive Analytic Therapist (part-time)

Band 8a: £45,753 - £51,668 per annum, pro rata

Location: Reading

Hours: 22.5 per week (6 sessions per week)

We are looking for a suitably qualified and experienced Cognitive Analytic Therapist who is enthusiastic, innovative and hard-working to join an established, Integrated Psychological Therapy team working within Secondary Care CMHT services in Reading, Berkshire.

You need to be ACAT accredited to CAT Supervisor level and have extensive experience of working in a therapeutic role within the NHS and with patients with complex presentations.

The role is flexible but will include supervision of CAT colleagues, teaching and training, and working directly with clients presenting with the full range of secondary care mental health problems.

We offer the full range of mental health and community services and our team of psychologists and psychotherapists contribute as part of the multi-disciplinary clinical teams providing a range of evidence based interventions.  You will be working alongside and supervised by senior staff and supported in your continuing professional development. The service has excellent links with the Oxford Clinical Psychology Course, Reading University and the Charlie Waller Institute in addition to other training courses and provides regular trainee placements.

You will need:

  • Core professional training and registration in a mental health profession (e.g. psychology, nurse, OT, Social Worker etc.) or equivalent
  • ACAT accreditation as a CAT Practitioner & Supervisor and/or UKCP registered as a CAT Psychotherapist with a qualification in supervision
  • Experience of working with clients with severe and enduring mental health difficulties

You will be based at Prospect Park Hospital (Reading) but may be expected to travel to other sites.

If you are not familiar with the cosmopolitan town of Reading, it has fantastic shopping in the Oracle shopping centre, it is a significant business centre, a university town, has a championship football team and a farmers’ market twice a month. It has excellent motoring links being close to the M4, A4 and A329.
