CAT Therapist - part time 6 month vacancy, London

This vacancy is a time limited [six months] Band 7, two day post working with young adults [18- 25] using a  4&1 CAT intervention in Lambeth Secondary Care Psychological Therapy Team.  Team base 151 Blackfriars Rd. London. SE1 8EL.

Lambeth Secondary Care Psychological Therapies is a new therapies pathway introduced in Lambeth at the start of 2021 which aims to provide integrated stepped care for people with complex difficulties. The aim of the pathway is to provide early input into care planning and offer low intensity early intervention groups (tier 1) to a population that previously would not have been able to access secondary care therapies or that would have been waiting for a significant amount of time. The pathway has three tiers of care. Tier 2 has Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT), Psychodynamic Psychotherapy and Complex CBT and tier 3 offers Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Mentalisation Based Therapy, Complex Trauma work and bespoke Interventions

This post is funded by a Backlog Clearance Plan, which means that its purpose is to reduce the time clients are currently waiting for a CAT assessment and CAT Therapy. This would be through offering an individual 4&1 session CAT Intervention to young adults [18- 25] as a preparation for individual CAT or to reroute to the new Tier 1 offers in the pathway or alternatively to other agencies.

The applicant will see 4-6 individual young adults a week, liaise with other agencies involved in the young adult’s care, complete the relevant Assessment and clinical Administrative protocols, and attend weekly supervision. The post-holder should be interested in working across teams in an integrated care approach with the local CMHT as well as the psychological therapies team.

The post is two days a week for a time limited six month period at Band 7. It is essential that applicants are Accredited CAT practitioners and have interest and preferably experience of working with young adults.

The 4&1 model has been piloted as an intervention within the service with positive results.

CAT is firmly established within Lambeth Secondary Care Psychological Therapies Team and is the Training site for the South London CAT Practitioner Training.

For further information please contact Hilary Beard; hilary.beard@slam.nhs.uk before 16th August.

Applications should be sent to Hielkje Verbrugge; Hielkje.Verbrugge@slam.nhs.uk

Applicants will need to enrol with NHPS or another NHS approved locum agency.

Applications should include a covering letter expressing interest in the post, a CV and two references.

Application Deadline: 3rd September 2021
