The closing date is 29th July and we are expecting to interview on 24th and 28th August 2018.

The NTW CAT Service is one of the very few services in the UK focussed entirely on Cognitive Analytic Therapy. Our service is based in the Trust’s Centre for Specialist Psychological Therapies, alongside the Newcastle Cognitive and Behavioural Therapies Centre, the Regional Department of Psychotherapy, and the Family Therapy service. Our service

  •          provides CAT therapy to people with complex psychological needs;
  •          hosts the NTW CAT Practitioner, Introductory and Supervisor Trainings;
  •          provides CAT supervision to practitioner trainees, practitioners and others;
  •          provides CAT scaffolding services (e.g. 5 Session CAT and other forms of CAT consultation);
  •          and undertakes service evaluation and research.

We are part of Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust, a large mental health and disabilities trust which was awarded an Outstanding rating by CQC in 2016.

We are a small team of three, with links across many other services, and the postholder will become a key member of staff for all workstreams in the service. This is a time of exciting developments for the CAT Service, as we undertake a new commissioning contract and begin training our seventh intake of CAT Practitioner trainees.

The key elements of the role will be:

  •          providing specialist CAT clinical interventions with adult service users with complex mental health needs;
  •          delivery of CAT supervision, training (practitioner and introductory levels), and consultation
  •          contributing to service evaluation and development

The post holder will be a suitably qualified psychologist or psychological therapist with Practitioner training in Cognitive Analytic Therapy. The post holder will have appropriate professional and ACAT registration as a CAT Practitioner and Supervisor. We can also accept applications from practitioners who are currently pursuing their CAT supervisor training. Other details are available in the Job Description and person specification.
