Overview
This course will provide participants with an introduction to the theory and practice of cognitive analytic therapy (CAT).
Who should attend?
This course would be of interest to mental health professionals who want to incorporate CAT concepts and tools into their therapeutic work with individuals or groups. It would also be useful for those considering whether to apply for a two year CAT practitioner training course.
About the course presenters
Rob Marx – Rob Marx is a cognitive-analytic psychotherapist and clinical psychologist. He works for Sussex Partnership in Brighton where he uses CAT and MBCT in his work. He teaches on the two year Trust CAT course. He works with Canterbury Christ Church University as the Trust training co-ordinator for clinical psychology training placements in Sussex Partnership.
Steve Metcalf - Steve is a UKCP accredited cognitive analytic psychotherapist and ACAT accredited supervisor. His professional background is in social work and he has worked for many years in social care and mental health and has been involved in a wide range of service developments. He offers cognitive analytic therapy training and supervision to other practitioners. He also has a small private practice for CAT in Brighton.
Hilary Brown – Hilary Brown is Professor of Social Care at Canterbury Christ Church University and also a CAT psychotherapist and supervisor working for Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust one day each week. She specialises in learning disability and in the safeguarding of vulnerable adults and has recently been involved with Jessie Emillion in setting up CAT training in Bangalore.
Booking Information
This course is offered free to employees of Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, and is open to other mental health practitioners at a cost of £150 per head, or £100 per head for voluntary organisations and concessions. Refreshments will be available but attendees should make their own arrangements for lunch.
