This event is Fully Booked.
WARNING! This event has passed. The Trainers’ and Supervisors’ meeting, in its inspiring, welcoming and accessible new location at Pembroke College, Oxford, is open to all CAT trainers and supervisors, including trainee supervisors to whom we extend a very warm invitation, and also to members of ACAT’s committees. The aim of each of these annual meetings has been to create and maintain a space for a reflective dialogue so that we can monitor and develop the key role of supervisors and trainers in developing CAT practice in all its variety.
We have missed meeting together over the past two years, this year we will be able to meet again in person. We want to take note of the challenges and difficulty we have all experienced and continue to experience through the pandemic and make space to share this, how we have managed our own boundaries, limitations anxieties and vulnerability in the therapeutic space. We intend in this meeting to enable a recognition of our experiences and procedures, on our use of self in CAT and how we develop, maintain and nurture our clinical skills for ourselves and others through our trainings, teaching and supervision.
We will explore aspects of our therapeutic skills in developing self-awareness of counter-transference responses to identify enactments, avoid and repair ruptures, and make therapeutic use of self-disclosure. We will think about application of these skills in supervision through our understanding and use of parallel process. We will think about how to bring into full awareness for ourselves and our trainees Ryle’s statement: ‘How the client makes you feel in the session is (usually) the client’s business.’
We will create opportunities for skills exchange so we can learn from the richness of each other’s experience. We will focus on these issues with a peer led programme that offers a mix of presentations, debate, discussion, group activity - but most importantly the opportunity to share our knowledge and skills with each other and learn from each other.
In addition, there will be some space for topics for discussion suggested by delegates. Attendees are therefore invited to consider in advance any areas that they wish to discuss with their peers relevant to CAT training and supervision. Please submit by email to Yvonne Stevens at yjs@pobox.com by 1st March 2022.
We look forward to seeing you again in Oxford.
