As you will have no doubt seen in the media, the UK is now in the ‘delay’ phase of dealing with the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. As a consequence of this we feel the responsible decision is to cancel the IRRAPT Fundraising Workshop on Friday (20th March). We understand that this will cause some disappointment. Please accept our apologies for this, we can assure you we have not taken this decision lightly.
The current advice is to avoid all unnecessary contact until at least 30th April. We will therefore review the situation after this date and consider an alternative date for the workshop.
If you have booked onto the workshop already and are happy for ACAT to hold your fee until then we can transfer your place to the new date once you have confirmed that you are able to attend. Alternatively please liaise with Ali Marfell at ACAT (Alison.marfell@acat.me.uk) for a full refund.

Challenging financial times within organisations such as the NHS, means greater restrictions on funding for people that want to embark on further training such as psychotherapy. With this in mind, a group of IRRAPT graduates, coordinated by Hilary Beard (course director), are putting on a number of fundraising workshops across the country. The aim is to increase the bursary available for those applying for IRRAPT.
One of these events, co-ordinated by us (Cheryl Delisser and Clive Turpin), will be held in Manchester on Friday 20th March, with all profits going to the IRRAPT bursary fund.
IRRAPT enables trainees to change their core profession to a CAT Psychotherapist with UKCP (United Kingdom Council of Psychotherapy) Registration, which enhances career opportunities for successful graduates. The training fosters both professional and personal growth and graduates often go on to take leading roles in the ACAT Organisation and within CAT Training. IRRAPT focuses on gathering a diversity of trainees from around the country to foster diversity of practice and the continued growth of the CAT learning community.
We've planned a varied and enjoyable day which aims to give you a sense of what the psychotherapy course entails such as theory paper discussion groups. We will highlight how the psychotherapy training is different from CAT Practitioner training, whilst presenting topics that hold a broad and general interest to the CAT community. These will include CAT in therapy and reflective practice groups, and brief CAT with self-harm (integrating with PIT).
We undertook IRRAPT together from 2009 to 2011 and will share some of our personal experiences of the course. There will also be some writings from other graduates posted around the room to read.
This will be a great opportunity to come along to a discounted day, knowing that you are contributing to a good cause, whilst learning and networking. If you are also considering the exciting and rewarding possibility of CAT psychotherapy training then this will be an added bonus.
