Presenter: Steve Potter

This one-day workshop uses the concepts and skills of collaborative mapping of the dynamics of dissociation and transference in response to trauma.

Key theories linking trauma, dissociation and transference will be explored using the concept of role reciprocation from Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT). Participants should go away with new concepts and skills in the therapeutic micro-mapping of the transference patterns of self-association (this is me) and self-dissociation (this is not me) as part of the life-long management of trauma and identity.

The day will switch between plenary, video and slide presentations and skills practice in groups of three.

Participants will receive a workbook of lessons and skills to practice.

It is designed to be of value to experienced and novice therapists and counsellors from all approaches and people working more generally in mental health. No prior knowledge of CAT is required.

Steve Potter is current Chair of the International Cognitive Analytic Therapy Association and co-director of the Jersey CAT practitioner training.  He is widely involved in teaching reflective practice, developing identity therapy and supporting and supervising various applications of CAT both in the UK and internationally.  He is a UKCP registered psychotherapist and supervisor.
