Applying Cognitive Analytic Therapy in Physical Healthcare Settings:
A PhysCAT CPD/Special Interest Day

Tuesday 8th November 2016 at Orton Hall Hotel & Conference Centre, Peterborough
9.15am CAT refresher for those with little CAT experience
Main day starts at 10.30am to 4.30pm

CAT therapists are undertaking work in liaison services, with patients presenting with physical health symptoms, their carers and staff, and finding the versatility of CAT ideas well-suited to the physical healthcare setting.  PhysCAT is an informal group of CAT therapists who have agreed to meet and share their work in a workshop format with the hope of empowering and inspiring both CAT therapists who are doing liaison work, and also liaison clinicians who are interested in CAT.

There will be an optional introduction and refresher session from 9.15am to 10.15am before the main talks of the day for those with little experience in CAT.

Provisional Speakers:

Dr Abrar Hussain, consultant liaison psychiatrist, “the dynamics of medically unexplained symptoms”

Dr Sarah Leggett, clinical psychologist with Suffolk Community Pain management Service, “Setting up a psychological pathway using brief individual, and then group CAT, for a new community pain service”.

Dupe Adu-White, highly specialist psychotherapist, Diabetes liaison service, Charing Cross Hospital, “Using CAT to tackle the challenges of living with diabetes for the hard to reach patient”

Anna Bettles, team manager and Dr Nicola Curtis, consultant psychiatrist, both from CAMH Peterborough, “Using CAT for Medically Unexplained Symptoms in adolescents - Finding a language for feelings”.
