Clinical/Counselling Psychologist for CAT - 8b - London

Clinical /Counselling Psychologist/ CAT Course Organiser Band 8b – 0.6 wte

Applications are welcomed for this post from qualified Clinical/Counselling Psychologists , with experience in developing or organising a Cognitive Analytic Training and a minimum of 5 years post qualification clinical experience. Applicants are required to be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and ACAT.

The North London CAT training course was first established in Haringey in 2007 and has been running successfully out of the Halliwick at St Ann’s Hospital until 2013, when it’s course director retired. Until 2011 the course was aligned with the Halliwick outpatient Psychotherapy Service. Following re-organisation of community services within the Trust, the Complex Care Service (CCS) was established in April 2011 and strives to redefine the traditional CMHT model, providing psychologically driven packages of care, focussed on recovery. It encompasses care coordination, psychological therapy, and psychiatric interventions, to adults diagnosed with complex mental health difficulties, without a diagnosis of psychosis. The CAT training continued to be delivered from within the Haringey Complex Care Team based at the Halliwick.

The current Haringey Complex Care Team (CCT) provides care for patients falling within HoNOS Clusters 4-8. It consists of 3 streams:

  • Personality Disorders/ Mood Disorders / Complex PTSD.

The CCT is located organisationally within the Severe and Complex Non Psychotic (SCNP) service line and is one of 3 Teams, one in each of the Trusts three boroughs – Barnet, Enfield and Haringey. Each treatment stream provides psychiatry, social care and psychological treatments.

There is also an outpatient Psychological Therapies provision, (Single Intervention Track) where there is evidence that stand alone treatments will be effective (e.g. Psychodynamic, CAT, CBT, Systemic, Group). There is also a thriving group treatment programme in each of the treatment streams. Psychological Therapists in the team are located within a treatment stream and also input some of their time into to the Single Intervention Track.

We are looking to recruit to a highly skilled and experienced Clinician who has undertaken a further, specialist training in CAT. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and deliver a formal CAT training programme accredited by ACAT. In addition the successful applicant will have a number of years’ experience of working with complex, challenging presentations, clusters 4-8. They will also support the Consultant Clinical Specialist (CCS) in the development and supervision of staff, trainees and honoraries , managing capacity, meeting national and local targets for waiting times and KPIs, providing leadership and deputising for the CCS when required.

The Team Manager and Consultant Clinical Specialist, supported by the Consultant Psychiatrist, share joint responsibility for service delivery provided by a multi disciplinary team comprised of psychological therapists, CMHNs, social workers, OTs and AMHWs.

Interested candidates would be very welcome to make contact for an informal discussion.
