Cognitive Analytic Therapy CPD Afternoon
Friday 15th December 2017
12.00 – 5.00pm
Lecture Theatre, Sussex Education Centre, Millview Hospital Site, Nevill Avenue, Hove, BN3 7HY
Guest Speakers:
John Bristow & Henrietta Batchelor

Henrietta Batchelor recently retired from working in an NHS Health Psychology Department where she led a Women’s Health Psychology team. Her particular interest was working with women ante- and post-natally who were experiencing attachment difficulties to their babies.  The struggle for some of these parents to respond in a unique creative way to their babies gave her an insight into the importance of early relationships which in turn fitted very closely with CAT principles and practice, the emerging research into the relevance of neuroscience in human development and of course the implications for psychotherapy.  Since retiring from the NHS she has worked in private practice in Oxford as a CAT psychotherapist, supervisor, trainer and examiner.

John Bristow is in private practice as a CAT psychotherapist, trainer and supervisor.  He has had an interest in infant development and neuroscience and its implications for CAT since reading Stern during his training in the 90’s. The work of Schore in 2002 on affect regulation had a big impact on him and he has kept up with some of the plethora of other publications in the last 15 years. John is actively involved with other trainers and supervisors in bringing some of the findings of the neurosciences into CAT training.  He has also been working as an organizational psychologist for many years and is part of the CAT network of those who are using the CAT model in organizations to help improve relationships.
