This is an ACAT accredited course for trainee supervisors running locally in Brighton as a 2 day non-residential training plus an additional online workshop + individual session.

The course comprises of a non-residential option for module 2 of the ACAT training pathway to accreditation for new supervisors. Trainee supervisors need to complete this module by attending a Relational Skills course prior to running their own supervision group.

The course is also relevant to qualified and experienced supervisors to look more intensively at their own practice as part of their CPD.

Friday 26th and Saturday 27th January 2024, 9.30am - 5.30pm
Lecture Theatre, Sussex Education Centre, Millview Hospital site, Hove.

Online workshop with Yvonne Stevens, Vice-Chair of the ACAT Training Committee:
Monday 29th January 2024. 10.00 - 11.00am + Individual online sessions. 11.00am - 1.30pm.
Overview of the requirements and pathway for the ACAT Supervisor training, followed by brief individual consultations with each delegate to discuss their plans for the pathway prior to submitting their application to ACAT.

Places are limited, this is a small-group, intensive course over 2.5 days. Cost: £400 including a shared group lunch.

Steve Potter is a CAT psychotherapist, supervisor and trainer working independently. He is a past chair of ACAT and the International Association of Cognitive Analytic Therapy and co editor of the International Journal of Cognitive Analytic Therapy and Relational Mental Health https://www.internationalcat.org/journals and is author of two books on CAT and its relational and integrative approaches and various chapters and articles ( http://www.mapandtalk.com ). He is a life member of ACAT and lives in East London and is chair of his local residents association. He is keen to see CAT's relational tools and concepts applied in and beyond the therapy room with teams, and organisations and in wider society and has spent the last twenty years developing an approach to reflective practice called Map and Talk.

Yvonne Stevens is a CAT psychotherapist, supervisor and psychotherapy lecturer, having trained with Dr Tony Ryle in London; she has supervised and taught CAT trainees throughout the southwest. Yvonne works in the NHS and is Course Director for the embedded CAT Foundation Training at the University of Exeter psychology doctorate, and a psychotherapy lecturer and assessor with the Peninsula Medical School. Yvonne is currently Chair of the ACAT Examination Board and ACAT Vice-Chair for Supervisor Training. Yvonne contributed to “Cognitive Analytic Supervision: A relational approach.” (2017) Pickvance, D. (Ed), and the “Oxford Handbook of Cognitive Analytic Therapy” (in publication). Yvonne’s passion is bringing creativity to psychotherapy and training and is editor of a forthcoming book Creativity & CAT as part of a series of books on new developments in CAT. Yvonne co-convenes the annual ACAT Trainers and Supervisors Event and supports the ACAT Relational Skills Training run by Steve Potter. Yvonne lives on the Somerset Levels with her family and four cats.
