Job Vacancy - CAT Therapist 8a 22.5 hrs/wk - St Ann's Hospital, North London

Cognitive Analytic Therapist

Band 8a  6 sessions (22.5 hrs per week)

Applications are welcomed for this post from experienced Cognitive Analytic Therapists. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established multi-model psychotherapy service at the Halliwick, St Ann’s Hospital in North London. We are looking for a psychotherapist with drive, enthusiasm and experience to work with the challenges and rewards of being part of a service working in a culturally diverse environment. The post-holder will be either an accredited Cognitive Analytic Therapist (ACAT) or a registered CAT Psychotherapist (UKCP registered) with supervisory experience (accreditation as a CAT supervisor would be desirable).

The successful applicant will join a team of psychological therapists and be an integral member of the training team delivering the CAT training in the Psychological Therapies Service.  Clinical work, assessment and treatment will take place within the Step 4 outpatient service, the Single Intervention Track.

Single Intervention Track (SIT)

The SIT is a multi-professional, multi-model service providing assessment and treatment to a multi-ethnic catchment area based at St Ann’s Hospital. The service provides a broad range of longer-term therapies at step 4  including CBT, CAT, Psychoanalytic and Group Analytic Therapy.

Providing psychological assessment and therapy is our core activity and we aim to foster excellence in the provision of services throughout.  Our staff has a range of professional backgrounds, including clinical & counseling psychology, nursing, social work and psychiatry.  This makes for an interesting and diverse clinical group where ideas and experiences can be shared and developed.

We have a well-developed internal Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programme individually tailored to the needs of staff members, drawing on the wealth of clinical expertise within the service, thereby promoting job satisfaction and quality of care.   Specialist supervision groups led by senior clinicians are offered in the various therapeutic approaches. There are various seminars/workshops catering to a range of interests, including a fortnightly departmental academic/clinical seminar programme.

As a service we have considerable experience in providing training, from clinical placements to organised training events. As well as a Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) Training Centre and we also work in partnership with the Trust’s Workforce Development Department to provide a Trust –wide CBT training. The initial programme includes introductory and foundation levels with plans to develop a third tier of training to accredited practitioner level.

This will be a 3 days per week post (Tuesdays and Fridays and preferably Wed or Thurs as the 3rd day).

The service hosts specialist placements for junior psychiatrists, psychotherapy and counselling trainees and clinical psychology trainees.

The post offers excellent opportunities to further develop specialist assessment, therapy, supervision and consultation skills. Participation in service development, teaching and training will be strongly encouraged and supported.
