Psychological Therapies in the NHS - 26 and 27 November 2009

THIRD ANNUAL CONFERENCE
Psychological Therapies in the NHS
Science, Practice and Policy

Thursday 26 & Friday 27 November 2009  |  Savoy Place, london

Continuing our previous and highly successful events this, our third two day conference will examine the challenges and opportunities of evidence based practice for the Psychotherapy profession. You will have the opportunity to join an assembly of leading clinicians, policy makers, academics and service users from across the UK, Europe and USA, to explore the future of Psychological Therapies in the NHS.

Two years ago Lord Layard set out the intentions for IAPT funding, and last year, Alan Johnson then Secretary of State for Health, placed Psychological Therapies at the heart of his ambitions for a modern health service – a first in the history of the NHS. In this, our third year, Andy Burnham current Secretary of State for Health, will round-up day one by discussing the New Horizons Framework and how it can help deliver his predecessor’s promises.

Day two embarks on new territory to look at how the concept of family practitioner can be applied and our plenary sessions provide the platform for national leaders to address the pressing questions raised.

“With the NHS bracing itself for the next spending review, a healthy, open dialogue is crucial for us to make a compelling case for future investment in Psychological Therapies. The third New Savoy event will continue to provide the forum for a challenging informed dialogue. With these debates listened to by government, we have already begun to shape their thinking and policy for psychological therapies. So, at this most interesting time, we invite your contributions and welcome you to Savoy Place.” Jeremy Clarke Chair New Savoy Partnership
