Web-site restrictions

ACAT is moving to a new website shortly. Due to unforeseen technical issues, the launch has been postponed briefly until Tuesday, 6th May.

In preparation, this website no longer lets members renew their membership. ACAT Administration are likewise unable to process membership renewals until the new site opens.

Please do not update any personal details on your member/friend profile, as changes at this point will not be transferred to the new site.

Thank you for your patience, and we look forward to welcoming you to a new website after the Early May bank holiday.

Find a Private CAT Therapist

All members on our "Find a CAT Therapist" list are private ACAT Accredited CAT Therapists / Practitioners or CAT Psychotherapists and are current members of ACAT, are in supervision for their CAT work, adhere to the ACAT Code of Ethics and Practice and are insured for their practice.  ACAT Therapists and Psychotherapists have their practice regularly audited, for protection of the public.

CAT Therapists / Practitioners usually have either core training as a mental health professional (e.g. as a Psychiatrist, Psychologist, Nurse, Social Worker or Occupational Therapist,) with a minimum of two years' post-qualification experience, or previous training in counselling to an accredited level followed by a two year training in Cognitive Analytic Therapy with accreditation following successful completion.  CAT Practitioner/Therapist are titles recognised by the Centre for Workforce Intelligence (CfWI) as training as a Psychological Therapist.

Please click here if you wish to see further information about CAT Therapist / Practitioner training.

CAT Psychotherapists have qualified as CAT Practitioners and have undertaken an additional in-depth two year ACAT accredited CAT Psychotherapy Training course leading to this qualification.

Please click here if you wish to see further information about CAT Psychotherapist training.

ACAT offers other levels of training but this does not qualify psychological practitioners to say that they offer CAT therapy.

You may feel nervous about coming to talk to someone you have never met before about your problems.  This is natural and we aim to provide a safe and non-judgemental space in which you are able to talk about what is troubling you at your own pace, respecting of gender , sexual orientation, ethnicity, nationality, religion or other individual differences.  Our approach has always attempted to identify and build on people’s strengths and resources whilst at the same time enabling them to creatively look at and overcome their problems.
