I am a UKCP Registered CAT Psychotherapist, ACAT Accredited Supervisor, and HCPC Registered Practitioner Psychologist. Working across a range of clinical / forensic settings over a 20 year period within the NHS has enabled me to gain a wealth of experience of working with adults presenting with a range of emotional and psychological difficulties. I am now working in full time private practice where I aim to offer a professional, confidential and compassionate service for adults with a range of difficulties including anger management, anxiety, depression and low mood, low self-esteem, bereavement and loss, interpersonal and relationship difficulties, work related stress.
Having a diagnosis is not important to access CAT as I believe it is important that you are seen as an individual who may be feeling stuck, unhappy for no apparent reason or would like to make some changes but don't know where to start. The advantage of CAT is that it can help in the development of a shared understanding of presenting difficulties and repeating problematic patterns so that any ongoing needs are agreed together. I pride myself on ensuring each CAT therapy is tailored to your needs and goals, drawing on other psychological approaches I have been trained in to help you move forwards, for example Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). I can also work with adults who do not consider themselves to have a mental health problem, but who may feel like they would benefit from a relational and collaborative approach to help them to make some changes to their life.
I have experience of providing personal therapy to qualified and trainee psychologists as well as professionals who are undertaking training in CAT (either at practitioner or psychotherapy level). I have at least four years experience of providing personal reformulations to clinical psychology trainees, and welcome opportunities to undertake this work with individuals working in caring professions.
Please get in touch if you would like more information and I would be happy to arrange an initial 20 minute telephone consultation (free, no obligation). This will help us consider whether CAT is the right therapy for you and what it might be like to work together. If I am not the appropriate therapist to help you on your journey, I will happily suggest alternative ways of getting help.
Location: Nottingham (The Magnolia Therapy Centre, Mapperley Park; The Bay Therapy Centre, West Bridgford). I am also able to offer appointments via Zoom if your working / family commitments and geographical location would make attending in person difficult.
Availability: Day time and evenings
