Nr Newark and Lincoln [Matthew Kemsley]

I am a qualified clinical psychologist - BSc(Hons), D.CLinPsy, PGDipCAT - with over ten years' experience working both within the NHS and in a private therapy setting.  I have extensive experience of working with a range of presenting problems for those aged 16-65 and use this experience to tailor an approach to fit with the presenting problems and your needs.  I am registered with the HCPC.

Having offered psychological therapy clinics for a number of years on Harley Street, London, I have established a psychological well-being clinic, which I have called effective minds (http://www.effectiveminds.net), in my local area; Collingham (NG23) near Newark, on the boundary between Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire. In the past I have been the clinical lead and principal psychologist of a Primary Care Mental Health Service in Greater Manchester. Then, and now, I hold a commitment to providing a thoughtful, compassionate and effective experience for all those I work with.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am trained in a number of therapeutic models including cognitive analytic therapy (PGDipCAT), cognitive behavioural therapy, EMDR, solution focused therapy and psychodynamic psychotherapy.  I can apply these to individual work with adults as well as with couples.  My approach is to integrate and apply these approaches and techniques to best meet your needs and therapy goals. This includes working within both brief and longer-term time frames as well as through mediums such as Skype or telephone, where appropriate.  Fundamental to my work is the creation of a safe and trusting space in which we aim to understand the issues we are faced with, enhance our levels of self-awareness, and explore and develop healthier patterns of coping.
